Challenge
Visit Lauderdale was trying to establish itself as a destination worth choosing in its own right, sitting between Miami to the south and Orlando to the north. Tourism advertising across the board had settled into the same predictable checklist of warm beaches, smiling faces, and entertainment highlights that could belong to anywhere, and the challenge was giving Visit Lauderdale a genuine identity rather than just another version of a place people had already been.
Insight
In most tourism advertising, the traveler becomes a blank slate, a vessel for the destination rather than the story. The scripts were already unusually character-driven, with specific people and specific reasons for being there. That was the signal. Greater Fort Lauderdale’s personality wasn’t going to come from the beaches or the marina shots. It was going to come from the people who fill those places.
Big Idea
Nolan Goff built “Never Lose Your Splash” around a single premise: the traveler makes the place more. Each spot followed a specific character arriving in greater Fort Lauderdale and rediscovering something in themselves. A snowbird runner finding her stride again. A family portrait dissolving into salt and laughter. Water ran through all of it as both visual device and emotional throughline, carrying the rhythm of the campaign from scene to scene.
Impact
The campaign gave Visit Lauderdale its most character-driven and cinematic work in years, making a genuine case for what makes greater Fort Lauderdale its own thing rather than a lesser version of somewhere else.
